God give Jonah a second chance to participate in His mission, this time he obeys. Jonah 3:1-3, “Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: "Get up! Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach the message that I tell you." So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the LORD’S command.” While it is true that Jonah obeys, he does so less than wholeheartedly. Tchividjian observes, Jonah “hasn’t had a change of heart. He is still the reluctant prophet who does not tell the Ninevites that there is a way out. All he preached is doom and gloom” (page 96). Yet, the people of Nineveh did repent.
