Luke’s gospel emphasizes the humanity of Jesus. As a man, Jesus was dependant on the Father and prayed. Prayer was such a significant part of the life of Christ that the only time we observe his disciples ask him to “teach us…” was when they asked, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).
